This company has scammed us out of over $200 for a "In-depth inspection" on our heating system. This was months ago but we were using this company for servicing our A/C and heating unit for about a year and a new technician had thought he found a crack in our heating unit. This was a new unit and so we wanted to make sure we were safe even though a crack was unexpected. He showed us a picture of a line that did not seem like a crack but he said he spoke with the manager and they both thought it was a crack. They told us we needed to get a more indepth inspection to make sure as this can be very dangerous. So we paid over $200 to get this in depth inspection by another employee which took him about 15 mins to open our unit and to tell us that nothing was wrong with it. He said our unit looks new and the "crack" is a normal line and build for our newer unit. He said that they previous employee probably did not know what he was looking at since its a newer unit. So i paid over $200 just because their employee and manager did not know what they were looking at? The lack of experience costed me over $200. I brought this up to the manager and she said wanted to make sure for the "safety of our family." I am not sure if we got absolutely scammed or they lack the experience which costed us unnecessary money. The manager gave us a credit of like $35 to make us feel better.

Avoid this company especially if you are not knowledgeable of your A/C and Heating units. They can take advantage of you. I want to make sure there is awareness of what they are doing.

During your preventive maintenance service, which includes cleaning and verifying proper system operation, our technician observed what appeared to be a possible hairline fracture in the heat exchanger. Because heat exchangers are a critical safety component, even the possibility of a fracture should be investigated. A cracked heat exchanger can allow combustion gases—including carbon monoxide—to enter the air circulating through your home. This can pose health risks and can also increase the risk of further equipment damage if left unaddressed. To ensure proper function or lack of, the technician performed an initial test at no charge to help determine whether a fracture was present. Based on those findings our office discussed additional options with you. You then approved moving forward with Secondary Testing. Testing was performed using industry-standard methods to identify small or hard-to-detect fractures in heat exchangers. To help offset the cost, we provided a 25% discount on this service, along with the additional $35 refund you mentioned. At no point was there any intent to mislead—our recommendation for further testing was based entirely on the potential safety concern and the responsibility we have to ensure your system is operating safely. We always aim to be transparent, thorough, and proactive when it comes to our customers' comfort and safety. Hard to believe it is 2026 now. We have been getting outstanding service from these guys/and gals all the way back to 2017. Back then, they were Viking Mechanical, then it was Empire Heating and Air and now they are the Mize Guys (Mize Family owned business). That is all the more reason to support them!!!

During this period of time, we have had every 6 mth service (Spring A/C and Fall Heating) on the original 2006 system that was built into our home (NO, Mize did not install the original system and we could not wait to get rid of the original contractor either). Mize was our first and only choice for the new HVAC replacement system install.

Tremendous cost savings on the units so we joined their "Wisest" Protection Plan which gets you (2) two scheduled visits a year, a 15% discount on all repairs, pre-season scheduling, replacement filters, and most important, Priority Service 24/7.

To top it all off, Connor is their son and did a tremendous job with our install in Jan 2025 and now with our service every 6 months. In fact, Connor was just here last week.

Absolutely no other reason to call anyone else! Fast response. Found the problem in 20 minutes. Two other companies spent days and hours, frying the new parts they installed. What a relief to find “friends” in the HVAC business.

As an updated follow-up: “Are you elderly, like me? Or do you have senior aged loved ones?” Mize Guys Org and its employees show a special affection and a sincere concern for those who are vulnerable, or insecure about approaching a company regarding their HVAC “mysteries”. Went to Mize Guys since they bought out Empire Mechanical. Had great experiences with Empire, cannot say enough.

Recently had Mize out when our AC stopped working and they wanted $1,300 to replace breakers and update electrical insisting nothing was wrong with the unit. Got a second opinion that found a leak in the coolant line and cleaned a connector, unit fired right up and cost less than $200.

Recommend shopping around.

I can’t recommend The Mize Guys strongly enough. They installed a new wine cooling system over two and a half years ago which stopped working recently. Although it was definitely far out of warranty, they stood by their work, persuaded the equipment supplier to replace the failed component, out of warranty, and got the system running again for a very reasonable cost. Throughout the process all the staff were very professional and friendly.
